Tichakunda Project - Part of the KUYAMURA TRUST
Tickakunda Project is supported by the Kuyamura Trust (Kuyamura means "To Help" in the Shona Language).
The Kuyamura Trust was created in early 2009 as a formal vehicle to raise funds for Tichakunda PreSchool. Work at the preschool began in early 2006 after Nyasha Manyonda and Marcellina Chikasha paid a visit to a nurse in that area who highlighted the plight of these children. The two friends visited the centre and were so touched by the children who were gathered to learn in the hot sun that they immediately pledged to assist the school. Nyasha Manyonda who was based in the US was already running a small internet business started donating part of her profits to the pre-school. The two were soon joined by Shaye Boddington from New Zealand who saw a face book posting of a video of the pre-school.
The Kuyamura Trust's first project was working with Tichakunda Preschool in Zimbabwe. It is an ongoing project and one we hope will make a significant difference to the lives of the children that attend that school.
